If you had asked me when I was young, where I wanted to work when I grew up, it certainly would not have been in the financial industry of which I have been in since I graduated college in 1992. I was like every other child, interested in animals and swimming with the dolphins. The problem was….I was a horrible swimmer. So instead I went to a business school (Katharine Gibbs School), which back in the day was a private (finishing) school where you went to develop all the skills you would need to succeed in the business world. It was a great decision and led me right into my first job which was a consulting firm specializing in revenue enhancement for investment banks, commercial banks and middle market companies.
It was at that first job that my Relationship Manager duties started. I was lucky enough to travel to many places near and far for business and the CEO took me under his wing and taught me a lot about business and life in general.
I worked there for about 7 years and then continued in the financial services industry with Scudder Investments and when they merged or acquired others – they kept wanting me to stick around. I was the Assistant to the President and CEO for about 15 years – with him taking me to whatever firm he ended up in (which was Babson Capital Management at the time)– Eventually in 2006 we parted ways – for all good reasons though. He was appointed President and CEO of Oppenheimer in NYC and I was 9 months pregnant with my first and only child. Since we live for the ocean and being on a boat every day, there was NO WAY I could move to Connecticut and not live on the ocean.
So after staying home with my son for about 3 years, I went back to work full time. I have finally found my balance here with The ROPE Team when it comes to family and work. I work just enough to get the job done at work, yet am able to spend more time with my family on the ocean, where we belong. My son is 12- years old and is an avid fisherman, lobsterman and boater. He is for sure a “Harbor Rat” and his boat name is “Young Salt” because that is what he is.
Here on The Rope Team, my responsibilities are to make sure that our clients’ needs are met on a daily basis. To communicate with clients and the team, to complete paperwork, transfer money, open accounts, update beneficiaries. Making sure that all the I’s are dotted and t’s are crossed so our clients can focus on their families, work and personal interests, we like to work as a one-stop shop for our clients and make sure they have all their ducks in a row when it comes to banking, college planning, retirement, trusts (funding those trusts and making sure that all of their assets actually point to that trust), etc.
When I’m not in the office, I enjoy fishing, clamming, boating, walking, camping, kayaking - anything on the water. Spending the MOST time I can with my son, husband and friends.
Favorite Food: oh hands down, pizza and steak. Both of which the doctor has asked me to stop eating – that’s how much I love it.
Favorite Drink: I only drink 3 things. Water, (lots of it) Coca-Cola (I know – so horrible) and Bud Light.
Favorite Book: Who are we kidding, I haven’t “read” a book in 12 years (thanks to my busy son) J
Favorite Sports Team: SCI-COH Sharks J My son, Aidan's Scituate/Cohasset youth football team, other than that, I don’t watch any sports.
Favorite Place: Bassings Beach, a small island with 2 cottages on it in the heart of Cohasset Harbor only accessible by boat. It’s like living in the old days outside showers, no electricity – just fun in the sun, sand and water.
